MEET ME ON MONDAY

Acting Balanced

Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me - hosted by Heather & Wayne from Acting Balanced.

Here are the Questions:

1. Tuesday is April 1st - will you be participating in April Fool's Day?

No. I only have D H to trick and I do that all of the time anyway.

2. Describe the month of March in 5 words or less...

Lots of birthdays!

3. Do you like fish?  Have you had/would you have an aquarium in your home?

I don’t mind fish however I don’t have any. We travel too much to have a pet. Even keeping the plants watered is a chore for our house sitter.

4. April is National Poetry Month - do you write/read poetry?  Share a favorite if you have one!

Not a big poetry writer. Don’t read too many either.

My 5th question is:

Have you special plans for Spring, if it ever arrives?

FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Feeling Beachie

The statements:

  1. I love to shower in the morning rather than at night so my hair will dry naturally.
  2. I laugh a lot when I’m with my grandchildren because they say and do the darnedest things.
  3. My least favorite household chore is cooking which is why DH does it all.
  4. When I walk through the ice cream aisle at the supermarket, I think about my diet and buy the one with less calories so that I can have chocolate sauce with it.

This week’s co-host is The Blustbutterfly!

It has been a very busy week. It started with a trip to see my parents. Since they moved to a new apartment we had to check it out. The apartment is smaller than their last one and doesn’t have as many closets so D H put up a cupboard with a coat rack in the hallway. We stayed over night at my sister’s and drove home on Monday. Poor D H has a sore back so I drove up and back.

A question from a blog earlier in the week has stuck in my head. The question is “How do you start a conversation with someone you don’t know?”. My original answer was based on my cruising experience however yesterday we attended the theatre. We saw an amazing show called “Twist and Shout – The British Invasion”. We have seen it before however with a different set of actors, dancers and musicians. We will probably see it again if it comes back because we love it.

Sorry I digress, back to the question. My answer this time would be based on the fact that I am Canadian and you can never go wrong talking about the weather. This was never more true than yesterday afternoon during intermission when I looked out the window to see snow flurries. The gentleman beside me said he wasn’t aware however when he looked he confirmed my observation. From there we compared the weather in England because he had spoken to his sister the day before. They were sitting in their backyard enjoying the sunshine. This lead me to talk about Charleston, South Carolina where our daughter H lives. The amusing side is that by the time the show was over there was actually snow.

Today we have rain which is creating big puddles as the snow melts away. The snow really needs a wash since it has turned gray and ugly.

As an aside I also stopped at the wool shop and came out with 2 bags full. I now have lots of projects to work on. When I am not knitting and crocheting I am reading a book which has to be reviewed and have been asked to do another. No hints yet about the books. You will just have to wait.

Lastly our doctor has finally retired. We were supposed to see him last week however our appointment was cancelled. We got a call from his secretary today telling us of his retirement. The doctor is almost 83 years of age and he was our doctor from the time I was 6 years old. This has put us in a quandary as he had no succession plans in place. Actually he outlived most of the doctors who practiced with him.

I hope you didn’t get to fragged out with my fragging today. Have a great weekend!

THRIVING THURSDAY

Everyday Ruralty

QUESTIONS

  1. What is your favorite room of your house or apartment? My favourite room is the living room. I sit in a very comfy rocker-recliner. I have my knitting and crocheting box beside it.
  2. What's your favorite topping for pancakes or waffles? My favourite topping is maple syrup and I am generous with it. I only eat pancakes or waffles when I travel because D H is allergic to them.
  3. Do you like dried fruit? I love raisins as well as cranberry. I like my raisin in trail mix and my cranberries are added to a salad.
  4. Please finish this statement. "As soon as we have good spring weather, I'm going to get out and walk."
  5. Tell me a memory from your childhood. Most of my memories date back to the summers I spent at our cottage. My mother would have the car packed to the roof and would pick us up on the last day of school. We would not come home until it was time to go back to school.

WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE

Hodgepodge Questions-

1. March is known as the windy month. Which of the following phrases best fits your March so far...'throw caution to the wind', 'three sheets to the wind', 'run like the wind', or 'see which way the wind blows'?

I am more the ‘see where the wind blows’ kind of person these days. Since I am retired I am not stuck to any given schedule.

2. Your favorite green food? Your favorite dish made with your favorite green food?

My favourite green food is broccoli. I like it with a cheese sauce however I mostly dip it raw into ranch dressing.

3. Ever been locked out of your home-car-office-anywhere? Do tell!

Yes to both my home as well as my car. The worst was when the children were little and I took out the garbage. The kids closed the door. Fortunately my neighbour saw me and called my husband home from work to let me in.

4. Yoda, Kermit, Shrek, The Wicked Witch of the West, Oscar the Grouch, The Grinch, or Mike Wasowski (Monsters Inc.)...of the green characters listed, which one's your favorite and why?

I will go with The Wicked Witch of the West because “the Wizard of Oz “ is one of my favorite movies.

5. "The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive."~Joe Batten Do you agree? Why or why not?

Yes! Why bother to get out of bed if there is no hope. It keeps us going.

6. Share a favorite song with an emotion in it's title.

“You’ll never walk alone”. I f sung properly it makes me cry.

7. What's a road trip you'd like to take?

We take a lot of road trips however I would like to drive to California and do the West Coast.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

It is another week full of birthdays. Today is my DIL M’s birthday. Yesterday my granddaughter F who will be 3 on Friday had a Dora birthday party for her friends complete with a Backpack cake. We will celebrate with a family dinner on Sunday. In the meantime our best friends’ twin grandsons will have their party on Saturday. We changed our theatre tickets from Saturday to Thursday so we can attend. I hope everyone has a wonderful week as well.

THOUGHTFUL TUESDAY

Time out for Mom

Tuesday, March 25th/14
What is the one question you would ask everyone you meet?

As usual Les at Time Out for Mom is posing a thought provoking question. Most of the people we have met have been on our cruises. I used to ask “how long they had been married?”, however that proved to be awkward as some were just travelling companions. Others had been married 2 or even 3 times. I found I got the same type of answers when I asked about children. I now ask “How many cruises have they done and which cruise lines?”

We are ballroom dancers and tend to hang out with other dancers. When I give people our names I usually say “Judy as in Judy Garland and Fred as in Fred Astaire”. They actually danced together in the movie “Easter Parade”.

Many of the people we meet are Americans and they usually ask about our healthcare system. We of course explain that we pay high taxes to support the care we get. They don’t like taxes. of course on our last cruise the topic was all about our mayor who has become the butt of the late night comedy circuit. We did not vote him in and will not vote for him this time.

Meeting new people is a lot of fun and learning about their experiences is icing on the cake.

I hope everyone gets out and meets new people. Everyone has an interesting story to tell.

A “Sunshine” holiday because we have been missing a lot of sun this winter.

2. Is your March full of madness?

I don’t do crazy very much anymore however March has been very busy with christenings, birthday parties and lunches out.

3. Yesterday was National Chip and Dip day - are you a fan?  What is your favorite dip, favorite chip?

I make a mean spinach dip served in a bread bowl. It is requested at all of the parties.

4. Is it a good idea to write about discord in your workplace on your blog?

Your workplace should be separate from the rest of your life. Having said that though, I did not start blogging until I retired and had no work place to interfere.

FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Feeling Beachie

This week’s co-host is my MOM – the lovely LORETTA! she knew I was in desperate need of statements and sent me all of these!

The statements:

  1. My grandchildren remind me of my children when they were younger.
  2. I find retirement very busy.
  3. My work people are still keeping in touch.
  4. Too bad winter isn’t ready to leave  because we need spring to arrive so we can get outside and enjoy the sun.
Friday Fragments:

This has been another busy week. DH and I were supposed to visit with our doctor on Monday morning however we were called and told our appointment has been postponed. Our doctor is in his 80s and has been taking a lot of time off. We know we have to find a new doctor and soon however he has been my doctor since I was 5 years old and he knows the medical history of everyone in our family.

I used the cancelled appointment to my advantage. I broke my glasses , so instead of the doctor’s office I went to the Optician for new glasses. I got plastic frames instead of wire because my darling grandson loves to pull my glasses off. Hopefully they will stand up to the abuse.

I had lunch with my retired co-workers on both Monday and Tuesday. We had a lot of catching up to do. We stayed in the house on Wednesday because of the nasty rain that came down. Today we are having our grandchildren come for lunch.

This weekend we hope to see my parents. We were supposed to go on Wednesday however because of the weather we will go on Sunday. My mother has a few jobs for DH to do as she settles into her new apartment.

Tomorrow is my son M’s  birthday and next week his wife M and his daughter F will celebrate theirs. Lots of fun.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE

Hodgepodge Questions-thanks to Joyce from this side of the pond!
Here are the questions to this week's Hodgepodge:

1.  Thursday marks the first day of spring...to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?

I would chose to walk in the woods. It is one of our favourite activities however the only walking we will do this Thursday is down our walkway as we shovel more snow.

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?)

I am not much into surprises however when we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary last year we reconnected with several of our wedding party that we hadn’t seen in 15 years (since our 25th celebration).

3.  We often think of spring as a time for new beginnings. What's something you'd like to start doing this spring?

We are going to begin a bathroom renovation. We are also going to refresh the outside of the house.

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?

Don’t sit in movie theatres. I tend to fall asleep so I don’t go. The last time I went with my daughter and saw a Diane Keaton movie but don’t remember the name of it. It also came on tv one month later.

5. When you meet someone for the very first time, what do you want them to think about you?

We meet most new people on our cruises so I ask how many cruises they have taken and with whom?

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what's your most often purchased frozen food item?

Our biggest frozen food purchases are french fries and frozen vegetables.

7. What's something you avoid?

I try to avoid housework and cooking. Thank goodness hubby does both.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

It is another stay at home day as we are under another weather advisory. Today it is freezing rain in the city and snow just north of us. Our original plan was to drive to Ottawa to visit my parents however they are expecting 10 cm (5 in) of snow. As well even if we had wanted to take the train we couldn’t because of a protest which has blocked the way.We will visit on Sunday instead.

We did plan for this at home so I have lots to do.

Monday and Tuesday we went to lunch with my retired friends. It is so great to see everyone and catch up on the news. Lunch was good too. Several of my friends are going to be grandmothers so I have more baby blankets and sweaters to knit and crochet. I also got some more books to read.

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring however winter is not finished yet. Easter is late this year so maybe we will get the Easter Bunny to bring spring. I would love to have spring flowers in the house like most of my friends however my allergies won’t allow it so I will enjoy them vicariously through my blogging friends.  Have a wonderful week!

Tuesday, March 18th/14
What Makes You Unique?

My family always says they are glad there is only one of me. I speak loudly and even whisper loudly. It comes from being a teacher as well as the fact that my Mom is deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other. Beside I sometimes have to talk through walls. To my children I explain that there is a difference between hard of hearing and hard of listening.

I am glad to me known by my grandchildren as the grandmother that makes funky sweaters, hats, mitts and socks. I also make apple pie and banana muffins. I also let them watch kids TV and eat their breakfast on the couch from TV trays. Grandma also has a special bubble bath routine with a baby powder finish.

My children (even as adults) think I am crazy. My concepts may not always be logical. I love to laugh and look at the funny side of life, however I will cry at commercials. I am not a great cook however my hubby is. I am not cleanest housekeeper but there is always a cup of tea available and my door is always open.

I used to be a good taxi driver however now I just drive everyone insane. Since I am retired I don’t need to go too many places.

Aren’t you glad there is only one of me?

Questions:

  1. What are your favorite condiments?  My favourite condiment is malt vinegar on my french fries. I started using it on my last cruise.
  2. What are you reading? Not very much right now as I am busy making sweaters for everyone.
  3. What was the last dessert you had? I had vanilla cupcakes for my granddaughter’s birthday. Otherwise we don’t eat a lot of desserts.
  4. Wendell would like to know if you would build him a snowman. (If you don't have snow, just pretend. He's not detail oriented.) Sorry Wendell the snow has disappeared and I have no coal for the eyes. We use gas.
  5. Tell me something fun or interesting. My granddaughter’s teddy bear picnic with her friends was fun and a great success. Everyone enjoyed the peanut butter and banana sandwiches as well as the strawberries and blueberries. We played pin the tail on the Bear as well.

1. March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day - where do you think the Leprechaun hid his pot of gold?  Are you celebrating in any way?

He did not leave his Pot of Gold with me. If he had I would be in Ireland right now. Yes I have a luncheon with my retired friends today and we will be entertained by Irish dancers.

2. What kind of luck do you have?

I have good luck. I am lucky to be retired, have wonderful children and super grandchildren as well as a amazing husband and my parents are still alive.

I have been wearing slippers all winter long however if Spring ever arrives I have a nice pair of yellow shoes with a little kitten heel.

FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Feeling Beachie       Half-Past Kissin' Time

This week’s co-host is Pam she who came up with the last two statements:

The statements:

  1. Saying I love you is easy for me and I try to say it all of the time especially to D H as well as my children, grandchildren and parents.
  2. I am very loving by nature
  3. If I stay in a hotel it must have a shower and a decent bed.
  4. If someone gave me hug I would give them a hug right back.

This has been an up and down week. I really want to blame it on the time change. Springing forward and losing an hour played havoc with my sleep patterns. Of course Old man winter isn’t ready to leave either. We stayed indoors on Wednesday and Thursday. The roads were in terrible shape and since being retired nothing is as important as staying healthy. I was able to finish a baby afghan and am nearly finished another book.

This weekend is busy as I am hosting my granddaughter E’s birthday party. She wants a teddy bear’s picnic. The mothers will drop off their sons and daughters and come back and pick them up. Fortunately Aunt C will be around to help. E is very eco-friendly so there will be no paper plates or cups. The menu will include pinwheel peanut butter and banana sandwiches, strawberries, blueberries and apples with chocolate, caramel and honey dipping sauces. There will be vanilla cupcakes with chocolate teddy bears made by Aunt C. The games will include pin the tail on the bear as well as musical bears. I hope it goes well.

My parents are settling into their new apartment. It has been quite a busy time for them as they adjust to the new place. It is smaller so some of their furniture will be stored at my sister’s. Hopefully we can get up to see them next week (weather permitting).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

THRIVING THURSDAY

Everyday Ruralty

I missed this meme on Tuesday however better late than never!

Questions

  1. If you are in the US, does the time change mess you up? Even Canada the time change has messed me up a little. The swing in weather hasn’t helped my sleep patterns either.
  2. Do you usually drink a beverage with you meals? yes, coffee for breakfast and tea for lunch and dinner. When travelling I also drink a lot of water but not so much at home.
  3. How often do you iron clothes? iron is a 4 letter word in our house.
  4. When was the last time you took an enjoyable walk? We actually got several walks in when the weather was a little spring- like however we now have 10 inches of snow so I am staying under an afghan and bundled up with a good book.
  5. Tell  me whatever you'd like to share with us. I am reading an interesting book set in India. It is called “ Veils of silk” by Mary Jo Putney. I also read a mystery by Kathy Reichs called “Monday mourning”. Two different types of stories but both excellent reads.

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE

1. Do you have an interest in learning about your family's heritage? Why or why not? If you know a little bit about your roots, share an interesting piece of trivia or a fun fact about someone who goes way back on your family tree.

I have some interest in my family tree however I am also afraid what may be lurking in the past. I know that if I walked down the street I might not recognize some of my cousins or even second cousins. Both of my parents came from large families. My mother was the oldest girl of 19 children. She had 7 living brothers and 1 living sister. My mother’s great grandmother was an Indian princess. My father is the youngest of 8 children. He had 4 sisters and 3 brothers. My father’s mother was killed when he was 9 years old. He was also an uncle by then and actually has nieces and nephews older than himself. I used to be able to say that I had aunts older than my grandmother. Part of my discussions with my Dad now that he has Alzheimer's is about his past.

2. Branch Rickey, the baseball exec credited with signing Jackie Robinson, is quoted as saying-

"Luck is the residue of design."

Agree or disagree? Why?

Basically he is saying that you make you own luck and I agree. However I am not talking about the luck of winning a lottery. Luck needs to be worked on and it doesn’t come easily.

3. In the town where you currently reside, what's your favorite green space?

My favorite green space is called Ashbridge’s Bay. It is a man made space carved around the shore of Lake Ontario. D H and I take many a walk there when the weather allows. We saw lots of birds there as well as flowers. It is a photographer’s dream and DH loves it.

IMG_5850       IMG_5851

IMG_5855       IMG_5857

4. Who is your favorite comedian?

I don’t know if I can narrow it down to just one. I love Lucille Ball as well as Carol Burnett. I spent many hours watching Red Skeleton as well as Jackie Gleason. I also love the cast of “Who’s line is it anyway?” which includes several Canadians including Colin Mocharie.

5. March is National Nutrition Month, and almost everyone needs to improve their diet in some way.  What about you? How can you improve your nutrition on a daily basis? Will you try?

We are already very conscious of our diet. We don’t buy packaged foods very often and we read the labels before we do buy. We want to ensure that we don’t suffer from diabetes as well as high cholesterol. We are careful with our salt and sugar.  The best diet I have been on was not about the food, it was about the exercise. On our last cruise we actually lost weight because we walked every day, swam in the afternoons and danced at night.

6. Which of these green expressions have you 'experienced' in recent weeks -green with envy, green thumb, green around the gills, or give the green light? Explain.

None really apply however the closets would be “give the green light”. I am helping my 6 year old granddaughter E plan a “teddy’s bear picnic” for her birthday. She is planning the food as well as the games.

7. Where is one place you don't mind waiting?

I don’t mind waiting to get my car fixed. I usually take my book and just read while I wait. Where I do mind waiting is in the doctor’s office. I make an appointment and every one else has the same time.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

We saw spring weather for 2 whole days. It was wonderful to get out and walk however we are back in a snowstorm and I have cancelled my grandchildren’s babysitting trip because of the snow. The roads are treacherous again. I will get more time to blog today and will have to exercise with the “sit and be fit” tape I have instead. I will still get to read my book and spend time with DH.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody!

THOUGHTFUL TUESDAY

Time out for Mom

Tuesday March 11th/14:

The Secret of Passion

How does one find their passion?

Les at Time Out for Mom always brings us thought provoking topics on Tuesdays. Today is no exception.

Everyone has a passion. It can be obvious in a lot of people or hidden away. I think my passions are very open. I love life. I love my family and especially my grandchildren. They bring a smile to my face. If I had known grandchildren were this much fun I would have had them sooner.

I have a passion for my hubby even after nearly 41 years. We share a lot of interests that we have found over the years. Dancing is our best outlet for fun. We would rather go to a dance than to a movie. Actually we don’t like the same kind of movies or even TV shows. We both love to travel and don’t like to fly. We found cruising to be the best way to see the world.

We have a passion for staying healthy. Eating right and exercising have become a way of life. Without your health you can’t do much.

Of course I love to read and knit. Life is never boring. Being retired helps.

Here are the Questions:

1. March 10th is Middle Name Pride Day - are you proud of your middle name?  What is it and is there a story behind it?

Yes I am very proud of my middle name. It is Anne (with an E –thanks to Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery). I am a third generation Anne.

img026
2. What makes you happy?

My hubby, my children, my grandchildren, travel and being retired. Is that too much happy?

3. What do you consider to be 'middle age'?

I am in middle age right now. I am younger than my parents and older than my children. I am the middle generation.

4. What is your fondest memory of your grandparents?

My grandmother was always ready with a cup of tea when I needed her. I remember visiting the converted schoolhouse where they lived and catching rides with the mailman. I also remember seeing “Sound of Music” with my grandmother.

My 5th question is:

Are you ready for Spring?

FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Friday Fragments:
Half-Past Kissin' Time
It has been a very busy week. We had dancing on Monday (tango lesson) and Thursday (practice dancing). Both of us were tired after the exercise. It was also a lot of fun. We definitely need a lot more practice. I also got my swimming in on Tuesday and Thursday. D H is a mall walker while I swim.
Wednesday was my regular visit with my grandchildren however it had a it of a twist. My granddaughter E is being tested for the gifted program and had to leave the house by 8:15 am so instead of battling rush hour traffic I went out on Tuesday night and slept over. Grandson T started early so everyone was up and ready. I got a little extra play time and E is definitely in the gifted range. Granddaughter F showed me the ropes about babysitting.
Good news I got the knitting for the 2 sweaters that I am gifting tomorrow knit. I will have them wrapped up today. They are baptism gifts for a brother and sister. I hope everyone gets everything done that was on their to-do list as well.

This week’s co-host is Carla from Carla’s Rambling she who came up with the last two statements

Feeling Beachie

The statements:

  1. This week I had to work extra long on making the sweaters that will be gifts and did not get a lot of reading done.
  2. Honestly do you think spring will arrive or is winter here to stay.
  3. Only the snow needs to melt and the sun needs to be warmer.
  4. If I had a million dollars I would take more cruises.

WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE

Sorry to be so late today however babysitting  the Grands stood in my way however I wouldn’t miss joining Joyce for this week’s questions.

1. The expression 'mad as a March hare' originated with a fictional character who is distracted and frantic. When were you last 'mad as a March hare' and what was it that made you that way?

Retirement has a very calming effect. There are no alarm clocks. No rush hour traffic drives and plenty of time to do nearly everything we need to do. So in answer to the question it would have to be at least 2 years ago while I was still working.

2. Mardi Gras this year falls on Tuesday, March 4th. Have you ever been to Mardi Gras, and if so what did you think? If not, do you have any interest in going?  Purple, green, and gold are the colors of Mardi Gras. Which one is most prevalent in your wardrobe? How about in your home?

I have never been to Mardi Gras or to New Orleans. New Orleans is on my bucket list however I want to go for the jazz music rather than Mardi Gras. I would chose the purple beads as you can tell since purple is my favorite color.

3. Are you old fashioned?

I am not sure I would be called old-fashioned however I am also not really modern. I like the simple uncomplicated life and don’t need a lot of technology to make it work.

4. Do you carefully plan your vacations, or do you prefer the days to be more spontaneous?

D H is our planner. I go-with-the-flow. D H knows what I like and takes care of me. So far we have no plans.

5.  March is National Sauce Month...what's your favorite sauce, and what do you most often top with this sauce?

I have 2 favorite sauces that I interchange. Caramel sauce and chocolate sauce. I put both on ice cream however I dip apple slices in the caramel sauce. Bananas go well with the chocolate sauce too.

6.  What's something that easily brings a tear to your eye?

My father always said I cry at the drop of a hat. I cry at funerals, weddings, baptisms and especially at commercials. I cry when I watch tv or even while I read. I should have shares in Kleenex.

7. If you could own any sports team, which one would it be and why?

Sorry, no sports team here.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

It is still winter. The weatherman has told us to brace ourselves because we might not see Spring until April. On top of everything else the clocks “Spring forward” this weekend and we lose an hour. We have a baptism this weekend for 2 lovely children and I am making sweaters for them. I have a dead-line of only one week. Hopefully I get them finished on time.

Have a wonderful week!

QUESTIONS

  1. Do you like avocados? Not a big fan however my grandchildren love them.
  2. Have you ever gone on a roller coaster? No, I am a carousel person or even a Ferris wheel fan because I have a very iffy stomach. I don’t even let my hubby drive over hilly roads.
  3. Do you do cross stitch, needlepoint, crewel work, or needle punch? I am a knitter and a crocheter however I have done some rug hooking in the past but I have a needle phobia and I shake when I have to use a needle.
  4. Do you cook with gas or electric? I don’t do much of the cooking however we have a gas stove as well as a gas BBQ. I have never cared for electric.
  5. Tell me something good, pleasant, or uplifting. Please. February is behind us and even though March came in as a lion we have our health. This is a big month for birthdays. My SIL turns 40, my son and his wife turn 36, my granddaughter E will be 6 and granddaughter F will be 3. Lots of parties.

MEET ME ON MONDAY

Acting Balanced

Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me - hosted by Heather & Wayne from Acting Balanced.

Here are the Questions:

1. National frozen food day is this week - are you a big frozen food shopper?  Do you freeze your own veggies or fruit?

Yes, we buy frozen vegetables however our fruit is fresh. I have frozen vegetables in the past as well as strawberries which we use for our frozen strawberry daiquiris.

2. What annoys you?

People who are not courteous. Everyone is in a hurry. What makes you so special?

3. It's Wine and Food Festival week here in Charleston, do you have a favorite type of wine?

Not a big wine drinker. I used to like sweet champagne however DH loves red especially merlots.

4. What do you think is an appropriate age for a first cell phone?

Times have changed. When I was a young girl talking on the phone was special. We said our business and got off the phone. Today everyone has a cell phone. I think if you have an active child then they should have a phone especially those who are more independent ( around 10 years of age ).

My 5th question is:

Have you read a good book lately?
