THOUGHTFUL TUESDAY

Time out for Mom

Tuesday, March 25th/14
What is the one question you would ask everyone you meet?

As usual Les at Time Out for Mom is posing a thought provoking question. Most of the people we have met have been on our cruises. I used to ask “how long they had been married?”, however that proved to be awkward as some were just travelling companions. Others had been married 2 or even 3 times. I found I got the same type of answers when I asked about children. I now ask “How many cruises have they done and which cruise lines?”

We are ballroom dancers and tend to hang out with other dancers. When I give people our names I usually say “Judy as in Judy Garland and Fred as in Fred Astaire”. They actually danced together in the movie “Easter Parade”.

Many of the people we meet are Americans and they usually ask about our healthcare system. We of course explain that we pay high taxes to support the care we get. They don’t like taxes. of course on our last cruise the topic was all about our mayor who has become the butt of the late night comedy circuit. We did not vote him in and will not vote for him this time.

Meeting new people is a lot of fun and learning about their experiences is icing on the cake.

I hope everyone gets out and meets new people. Everyone has an interesting story to tell.

It's nice meeting new people under causal circumstances such as yours. That must be a lot of fun, and someday, I'm certain we will find ourselves doing that more. However, at the present we don't engage these opportunities very often. Great to share the morning with you!
Good post. I'm not always real good at meeting people. I'm a little shy at first. However, if someone else will start the conversation, it doesn't taken me too long to warm up.

I love meeting new people while on vacations - I guess there is a safety on knowing they will never see you meltdown in your real world!

It's great how people open up and share stories on vacations. If you met a stranger at any other place, you are less likely to be personal.

Good grief..I need to get my eyes checked, I thought you said THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY, LOL. Oh, the new healthcare here in USA is just plum awful. Between waiting times & driving times (we have to drive an hour to just see the general dr. as our insurance doesn't allow us to see any dr.'s here in our town.) OH..you really didn't want to know all that, lol.

I agree, meeting new ppl is a good thing. We like meeting new ppl, I often joke my husband will talk to a tree..he is friendly and will strike up a conversation with anyone. Blessings

I so agree with you that meeting new people can be a lot of fun. Especially on vacation, though, because everybody is much more relaxed and generally in a good mood. Judy and Fred - nice touch!
