FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Half-Past Kissin' Time

Feeling Beachie

This week’s co-host is Obi from Eloquent Obi – she came up with all the statements:

The statements:

  1. The beach is a great walk from our house.
  2. Smartphones are okay however I still prefer my old fashioned flip phone.
  3. I like to play with my grandchildren. They keep me young.
  4. My dream of cruising would be fulfilled next year.

It is hard to believe that another has gone past. As I mentioned on Wednesday I have been watching my neighbour’s children before school in the morning. On Monday we got better acquainted and watched some tv. On Tuesday we played outside with chalk on the sidewalk. On Wednesday we got our the bubbles. It was wet on Thursday so we played cards. I have a deck of cards for a memory game. We had a lot of laughs. Today we played the card games again including a game called “slap jack”. We have also been taking the skipping rope to the bus stop. I have enjoyed my week with the kids.

I also babysat on Wednesday. I gave M’s Mom a break. She took the morning sit and I took over at lunch. It is wonderful to see the children growing up. F is loving school. T loves his special time without the girls. E is in grade one at her new school. Her biggest complaint is the washrooms. She says they are not very clean however she loves her teacher and her new friends. School is also too easy.

The weather is cooling down. I got out my jacket as well as my sweaters. I think it is time to put away the shorts and sandals although I may still need them for our upcoming visit to Charleston. It is still in the 40’s there.

D H has taken the dining room table apart and is removing the varnish. He will eventually restain it. In the meantime we have our old table up from the basement. It is in great shape considering it is over 65 years old. It was D H’s parents first table when they got married. We also still have the original chairs.

We are looking forward to a  retirement party on Saturday for our good friends M and D. Our friends M and N are coming into the city for the party as well.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Slap Jack! I haven't played that since our kids were small. I'll bet my grandchildren would love it.
It sounds like you and the children are having a lot of fun during their stay with you :)

In your fragments you mentioned that it's still in the 40's in Charleston. That has to be a typo error! I live just 2 1/2 hours away, and we haven't seen 40's since February! It's still in the 90's here. I'm ready for some relief!

Your hubby has undertaken quite a job, refinishing furniture, but it will be beautiful when he's finished, I'm sure.

Have a great weekend!

I mean 40 degrees celsius. I am Canadian not American.
Sounds like you are having a lot of fun with the kiddo's. That's a great way to stay young!

I'd love to be a walk (even a fairly long one) away from the beach. Come November, Lord willing, I will be just a short walk from the beach. Looking forward to that one.

#2 - I still have my old flip phone.
Those children benefit from your care - great job.

Sounds like a very fun week.
I can appreciate your granddaughter's dislike of dirty washrooms -- I feel the same way! At least she has a nice teacher.

Lucky you to live that close to the beach.
I like my flip phone too and it doesn't even have texting.
I enjoy my Granddaughter too even though she's growing up way to fast.
Sounds like you have plenty planned to keep you busy. Enjoy your weekend.

I've went on a couple of cruises and loved them. I want to go on another one. Have a great weekend!
I would die if I had a flip phone. Sorry.

I am too quick of a person, and they are too slow. LOL!!

ENJOY your weekend.

I remember thinking I could never give up my flip phone. I fell in love with my smart phone very quickly.
I have not played slap jack in years. I will have to teach our grands.
it is so nice of you to help out with your neighbors kids.
I was thrown off by the temp too, I didn't know Canada went by Celsius. I drove through SC a few weeks ago and it was HOT!

How nice that you help out with the kids! hanging out with kids is always good for laughs. I remember Slap Jack. I played cards a lot in the Summer when it was too hot to go outside and Slap Jack was a staple game. You'll have to post pics when you finish the table project. Hope you have a great weekend!

Slap Jack -- I think that might be like one we call "war" - only that title sounds a bit nicer for when you are playing with the kids. My kids have been really into Go Fish lately.
It's rainy and cold here today and we all a bit lazy because of it. I baked some muffins to make the house smell nice and then I realized: it's definitely season change because I didn't complain that the oven warmed up the house. I have even put on socks!! :)
