MEMORY MONDAY

My mother has written her memoirs and has been after me to write mine. I have been resisting for a while however I am creating Memory Monday to help me along. Come join me with your own memories. Each week will be a different prompt to encourage the writing of your memories. Link your memories and share them with everyone.

Our prompt is: My First Friend

My first friend besides my sister was my next door neighbour. Her name is Kathy R. She had beautiful, curly blonde hair. We went to Sunday School together because her mom was the superintendent. I remember playing out in the front of the house. One of the games we played was in the winter. The snow was piled high on the grass and we would climb up and sing “I’m the king of the castle”.

Unfortunately we moved away and I only saw her on Sundays. Then her family moved away and we lost touch. It is hard to maintain friends when you can’t write to them or even call them.

Next Week’s Prompt: My Family

My daughter made us a Memory Monday button that you can grab from my sidebar if you want.

Retired Not Tired Memory Monday

Please link up your posts to this continuing linky so we can watch each other’s memoirs develop over this year.  Please use the format of “PROMPT – BLOG NAME” so we can follow each week’s writing.

I've joined in for the discussion, but the linky tool will not let me make another entry. Shouldn't there be an end to each week's entries, so that new ones can be added?
Being 'the king of the castle" must have been fun.

I lost touch with my first friend soon after we started going to different elementary schools, too.

It's interesting the things we remember, isn't it? I lost touch with my earliest friends, too, but would love to know what ever happened to them.
When we were kids, it wasn't so easy to keep track of friends. We moved a few times to different parts of town, but most of us didn't have telephones and certainly no email or Facebook! That is one thing I have really enjoyed about Facebook and that is the reconnection with high school buddies

That is problem of some first friends. They move away and you never see them again.
