SIX WORD SATURDAY

Thanks to Cate for hosting...

My Granddaughters are learning to knit!!

It is time to pass down the age old tradition of knitting. There is no better place to start than when the children are young. I picked up my needles after a hiatus of 20 years. I really thought I would never knit again because my hands got so sore. I actually gave away all of my wool stock. I kept my needles and all of my books. Thank goodness!!

This Christmas I am starting a new tradition for my grandchildren.  They will all get something made by Grammy with Love.

That's so neat!! I'm the only female in my family that doesn't know how to knit...or crochet, or sew, or do anything crafty. So wish I did though! I need to learn how to do one of them.

Oh how fun!! I think it is a great thing to learn how to do! Lots of wonderful things can be made through knitting! Glad your granddaughters want to learn how to knot too!

I love knitting, and once taught an entire class of thirty 8 year olds to knit! I must have been mad. :)

That is great that you are able to start knitting again. I hope your granddaughters enjoy it. I have crocheted for many years (not recently), but I never did learn how to knit.

Wonderful! My grandma tried to teach me to knit and crochet, but I could never get the hang of it. I'd love to be able to, though.

I was never really into knitting, although I think it would be cool to make my own clothes! : )
I learned to crochet from my Gramma. One of the best gifts she ever gave me. 50 some years later I am still crocheting.
I returned to knitting last year, after a long absense, to knit those tiny "jumpers for Africa". It felt good.
It is exciting to hear that your granddaughters are learning to knit.
I am thankful for my mother who patiently taught me how to crochet and knit. These handicraft skills are her great legacy.

How exciting! When I was young, I used to do embroidery with my grandmother, and thought it was great fun. Sadly, it's not a skill I kept up, but it's still a wonderful memory of good times with my grandma. I'm sure your granddaughters are going to love it.
This is wonderful. I always wished I could knit or crochet.

Great stuff - we are a crafty family in general, so I know you're in for a lot of fun. Have you seen pictures of yarnbombing? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yarn_bombing There are some amazing works out there.
Cool! I've knever knitted.
I think that is wonderful! Enjoy your knitting! And Merry Christmas!

I loved teaching my daughter to crochet. Enjoy!
I think that's a wonderful thing to teach your grandchildren. I still remember a few of the crochet lessons my Granny taught me growing up and I will always treasure those memories.

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Happy New Year! And happy belated 6WS! :-)

This appeared as your Dec. 28 link. Have you done a different one for today?
That's a lovely skill to pass on. So few people can knit these days.
i love experiencing things with my grandchildren that are new to them!

Happy New Year!

So great you are passing on the talent...I wish I knew how to knit, but I feel my fingers now would make nothing but knots.
