THRIVING THURSDAY–PONDERING WITH A PURPOSE

Pondering with a Purpose - In laws

This Week's prompt: In-Laws

Do you love your in-laws? Do your in-laws love you?
As the holidays approach I realize this is a great thing to talk about... we all have them... either Mothers or Fathers in Law, Sisters or Brothers in Law, Sons or Daughters in law.... no matter how isolated we are .... unless we are only children who never married ... there is an in-law in your life! So tell me....  do you love them and do they love you back?

Unfortunately I have lost both my father-in-law, mother-in-law and one brother-in-law on my husband’s side of the family. We also barley keep in touch with his other brother. I have a sister-in-law with exactly the same name, believe it or not.

Now in my own family I have 2 brother-in-laws married to my sisters. I am very close to my younger sister’s husband who will celebrate his birthday on Saturday. We just enjoyed a wonderful day last Sunday. They attended the play with us. My other sister and her husband live far away so we see very little of them. We are not as close. I also have a sister-in-law who is an amazing seamstress however again we are not close.

Now in our immediate family I have 2 son-in-laws who we love dearly. They married our daughters and take excellent care of them. I also have a beautiful daughter-in-law who is fabulous.

I hope they love me back as I love them all.

Hmmm. Yes, this is a sticky topic. I'm surprised you can be so honest on your blog, unless you know that your relations aren't following your blog. :) I have one brother and no sisters. He got married several years ago, but we couldn't attend the wedding and I have never met her, but she is very sweet from the bits and pieces of contact that we do have. They live in Taiwan, her country of birth and I live in South Africa, my husband's country of birth. There are many miles between us, but we will hopefully meet up in the States in 2013. Now, we do live closer to my in-laws, about an hours drive. They are loving and supportive.

I'm now following on GFC.

Oh! I meant to also say that my son has his birthday on Saturday too like your brother-in-law!

I've had a couple of sister in laws - my brother divorced and later remarried - but I have never been close to them. Partly because I have never lived close enough to develop any kind of relationship.

My in-laws are the best! They do so much for us and my boys. I love them! My extended family, unfortunately, is dysfunctional and I tend to keep away.

I do not have any in-laws but I know of persons who do not get along with their in-laws while there are others who have a good relationship with them. It is great that you have a wonderful daughter-in-law and sons-in-law that you love.

Sadly, my mother and father inlaws have passed away. I didn't like the much in the first years of my marriage, but I grew to love them very much, even after their son and I divorced! I have 2 daughters inlaw and one daughter inlaw to be (wedding in May) . They are all wonderful women.

I think the fact you love your SIL's & DIL says alot because we can not change a persons personality or their set in the ways but we can start new traditions and closeness with the incoming and the grandbabies greta pondering!!
