Acting Balanced

And now for this weeks Questions:

1. Finish this sentence - The thing I dislike most about shopping is....

rude customer service reps. I especially dislike getting my coins on top of the bills.  No one counts change backwards because the computer tells them what change is due.

2. What is your favourite flavour of j-ello?

My favourite is green (lime).  A tradition in house when someone gets sick we make a bowl of jello.

3. If you could trade places with anyone in the world for one day who would you be and why?

I would like to be Queen Elizabeth II.  The monarchy had a place in my grandmother’s heart and would love to kick Prince Charles in the butt.

4. Who changes the lightbulbs at your house?

I think I do.  I know I have to remember to put it on the grocery list.

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!

My fifth question is:

What is the best way to discipline a child?

In our house, we used a lot of positive reinforcement for the good stuff...and natural/logical consequences for the bad stuff.
I think one needs to explain the reason for the discipline if the child can understand....rewards for positive behavior is always good...time out.....and removing privileges...That said: nothing worked with my son so it has to be an individual thing, I guess..

One of my husband's major peeves is "the bills are not a change tray!"

I used to lecture. I had my nieces quite often between the ages of four and ten and making them tell me why I was angry with something they did worked well. One of them asked me one time why I couldn't just spank them like other parents. That's when I really knew the method was working. LOL.
For my kids, reasoning worked well when they got older, but I tried lots of methods of discipline - from time outs to taking away privileges to a good old fashioned swat on the behind ( with my hand only - my mother/grandmother used to use belts and switches that often left welts - I NEVER left a mark on my kids - I think there is definitely a BIG difference there)
My recent post Monday Quiz About Me
I don't have kids but I think it depends on the kid and the situation. Everyone reacts to things differently so what works for one may not work for another.
