FRIDAY FRAGMENTS & FOUR FILL IN FUN

Feeling Beachie

This week’s co-host is LISA from LISA WRITES she who came up with the last three statements.

The statements:

  • Visiting my grandchildren always makes me happy.
  • If one song represents how I feel right now it is “I could have danced all night”.
  • In 2013 my biggest challenge was keeping in touch with my friends because we were away so much and made me make more phone calls and write more e-mails.
  • I feel ambivalent about making New Year’s resolutions.

This has been a very busy week. I actually managed to get out every day. It turned colder however I just warmed up the car and wore lots of extra clothing to get about. Fortunately we had very little snow and I didn’t have to walk too far. I must say that I am thankful for the investment in the warm winter coat 3 years ago. I have gotten my wear out of it this winter.

Our “west coast” dancing lessons are progressing nicely. In our second lesson we can actually do 4 steps. This dance has been easier to catch on to because we have so many other dances to compare it with. We have a long way to go but we are thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Our poor daughter H in Charleston will not be going to China with her husband W in May. They have had a few set backs with their cars as well as their kitchen plumbing. We will still make the trip in May to help her look after the children but we will not have the full responsibility.

Son M and his wife M have a big decision to make regarding E’s school next year. We babysat (no sitting involved) while they attended an information meeting. Does E stay in a private school or does she go to the public school across the street?

I also attended 2 Retiree meetings. At the first one A and S joined the group finally. They loved their first meeting. We had a wonderful lunch and a Tai Chi demonstration. The other meeting had a talk about “sleeping children around the world”. This is an organization that provides bed kits for children around the world. It was started by a local gentleman and his family keeps it going.

All in all it was a great week!

I've been wanting to try taichi...what do you think about it?_

I think it is a wonderful way to exercise. You get to meet some great people and it does not strain your body like other forms of exercise. It is great for memory as well. Personally I take aqua fit class because I like swimming.
I know I need to keep better in touch with friends. I use to be so good about sending an occasional email every now and then, but ever since our computer crashed a few years ago I have not. It's just so much work to rebuild my email contacts that I haven't down it. Now, I only shoot emails to those who happen to email me first. Oh well, I am pretty good about sending out annual Christmas cards with a newsletter. But, I don't do the massive number as I once did thanks to the increased cost of postage. Have a good weekend!
Now-a-days...it's difficult to make so many decisions on schooling for our children!!! There is academics and safety and cost...etc. etc. etc. Too bad about not being able to travel with hubby to China...but life goes on.

Very busy week! It seems like most of us don't really care about New Year's Resolutions.

Have a great weekend!

Your dance lessons sound so fun!
Inspiring to read of the good times with the Retiree meetings and dancing lessons etc you had this week, in among the more difficult decisions and setbacks in your family.

I only remember doing New Year Resolutions as a teen with my beloved Gran, many many moons ago.
Best wishes.

Several years ago I bought some expensive winter boots when we were on a trip to Chamonix. I balked at the price, but my hubs wanted me to get them and I did. Worth every penny. I still have them, they still look new, and they are so warm.

I think Tai Chi looks so interesting and soothing. We traveled a bit in Asia a couple of years ago, and it was everywhere. I said then I'd kind of like to learn it...we have a friend in China who is really good, and there are many subtleties to the movements.

Good Sunday morning! I am a new visitor to your blog and saw that we have several things in common: traveling, reading and grandchildren. Oh, and retired RN. Perhaps we can become friends here...

How old are your grandchildren and where have you been travelling?
So sorry about the trip to China. I have been following them as well as you and it seemed so cool.
I am glad you were able to get out and about -- probably better than we with our 1/2 inch of snow -- haha!
